It’s November 3, 2024. Time flies fast, but looking back, this year has felt quite long. I think it’s because I had so many things to accomplish. Now that we’re down to the last two months of the year, I want to take a moment to reflect and set clear goals for the end of this year and prepare for the next.
Goal 1: Becoming a Strong Business Professional
My main goal is to become a “強いビジネスマン,” which means a capable and dependable business professional. I want to be someone who handles work efficiently, leads meetings, and guides a team with confidence. Since I started working in 2022, my role model has always been Harvey from Suits. For those who haven’t watched that show, I highly recommend it—it’s one of my favorites.
Harvey’s character inspired me back in university; he was the reason I decided to learn English. To me, speaking a foreign language felt like stepping into a world of magic, like Disney World. But setting that memory aside, I want to be someone who works hard, supports others, and can rely on their surroundings to achieve great things.
Goal 2: Starting My YouTube Channel
I recently bought a microphone and a tripod, which means I can finally start my YouTube or vlog channel. This is something I’ve wanted to do since last year but kept procrastinating on. With the year almost over, my goal is to start filming and post at least four videos before the end of 2024. It’s time to turn this long-standing wish into reality.
Goal 3: Reading English Books
I enjoy reading, but I usually read books in Japanese. Reading in English still feels a bit uncomfortable, but I think it’s time to step out of my comfort zone. My goal is to read three English books by the end of the year. This might seem like a small number to some, but for me, it’s quite a challenge. The first book I want to tackle is Intermezzo by Sally Rooney.
Conclusion
So, these are my goals for the end of this year: become a more capable business professional, post four videos on YouTube, and read three English books. Writing them down makes them feel achievable. If you’re reading this, I encourage you to set your own goals and work towards being the best version of yourself. Cheers!
